Something For The Boys!

Hello Crafters

Hope you all had a great start and that you’re all back in the swing of things! I had so much fun at home that I didn’t want to go back to work, so busy that I felt like one blink and the holiday was gone! Don’t know about anyone else but I live for my weekends, and I’ve only 12 more years to retirement, bring it on!!!!

As I was so busy, I only managed to craft for 2 days, so didn’t get much done as I wanted too, and I am busy scrapbooking my Mum’s memories for the family, and I truly didn’t realise how long it takes, so hats off to the scrapbooking community, you have my respect! So today I have an older card to share, and clean forgot about it until I just come across it.

This was made for Mr Kim’s son-in-law, he is a great miniature battle re-enact fan (I think that’s what he does), but I made a card for him in knowledge of his interest.

I was pleased with the way it came out, not much die cutting, just a few tags and and the cut out, was effective though. I love the Memory Box Open Studios Dies, this one is Distressed Baptisia, and I used Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes – Red Blaze for the cut-out  background, tied in nicely with the theme. I then embossed the background with Spellbinders Garden Lattice Embossing Folder. These Tags from MFT – Stitched Fishtail Flags, I use them so often, a real must in my collection!

Well that’s it from me for now, must get back on the scrap booking wagon, got loads of albums to create and fill!

Have a great week.

Happy Birthday Son!

Hello Crafters

What have you been upto recently? As promised I have returned to show you the card I made for my sons birthday, can’t believe my youngest is 33 already….where did that go!!!!

Son's birthday 2016 (1)

Kim Styles Cards

I was bored with the usual things, so I stood looking at the dies to see which caught my eye, and I spotted an old favourite and thought, “haven’t used this for a while”, so out it came for an airing. I love these Spellbinders feathers and they are so versatile in that you can colour and stamp them to make them your own and the deep embossing is still visible. I used the twisted citron, tumbled glass, chipped shappire and cracked pistachio distress inks and loved the colour combo. I used John Bloodworth stamps for the spots on the feathers with picket fence distress ink and tuxedo black memento. Using the same distress ink colours, I stamped a background with Gorgeous Grunge Stampin’ Up stamps. I used some scrap off cuts for the fishtail banners and stamped with Lawn Fawn Scripty Sayings and the ‘son’ stamp is no longer available as Waltzingmouse Stamps has now closed (Such a pity). I glittered the ‘Son’ with Lime Green stickles.

The inside I used the same distress inks and made some smaller feathers, and the greeting is Phil Martin Decadent Damask. The tags are by Die-namics Stitched Tags. The background stamps are all Gorgeous Grunge and John Bloodworth.

So there you have it folks.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
