Twist ‘n’ Pop Birthday

Hello Crafters

Hope you are all having a great week producing beautiful moments in time!

This week I decided to have a go at this twist ‘n’ pop craze that every one seemed to be doing, a little behind I know but none the less I got there! First I started by having a look at images and YouTube and then I decided I wanted something different for the grandchildren so said to myself ‘ Let’s have a go!’

I was so pleased as I measured and made it all, and it worked first time.

Balloon Celebration

Hello Crafters

Well my oh my hasn’t Mr Sunshine been parading around this week! Hope he’s made you feel full of warmth, because we needed something to make us feel good after this weeks awful events. I was lost for words that anyone, could carry out something so heinous as this and given that this brutal act is being paraded as an act of religion, just defies all logic! I cannot even talk about it but the feeling of love, support and harmony of Manchester is worth talking about. What amazing, uplifting and loving scenes has been shown by standing side by side and not condemning but showing true feelings of spirit and love that bring a community together, so overpowering and so memorable, what a wonderful community. THAT IS WORTH TALKING ABOUT, and my heart is with the families of those angels that are smiling down on us and feeling that love. God bless you all.

So in light of this, I wanted to share some warmth and colour with you today. Firstly the card I made for Mr Kim’s grandson. He’s a clever little lad and he is always wanting to learn, and sometimes when he visits and comes into my crafty heaven spot, he ask about what this or that does, and how does this work. I was a little lost as to what I could do for him, but this card was born from some scraps hanging around my work space.

KSC - Balloons May 17 (15)

I usually leave these bits on the top, so they annoy the hell out of me, and then I use them, it works, every time! That’s what happened here, I wanted to make a card but also to use these off cuts, as every time I look at them I don’t see waste I see frames! So that is how this card was born.

Items used:

I embossed a card with ink splats in white and used the distress inks over the top with a mix of colours to make a sheet of card to use for the balloons and sentiment. I then covered the balloons with glossy ink. I created the garden scene for the backdrop, and used the cute kitten as the focal point. Repeated on the inside without the frame.

Now, did I or did I not promise to show you pictures of what I would make with my new mixer? It hasn’t stopped since Friday bless it, but it is one mean bread and cake making machine, and I love it!

As you can see they don’t last long, and my will power is fading. I did have a roll but it was counted as a ‘syn’, and I had a small piece of upside down cake that has fresh pineapple, but I dare not touch the cappuccino cupcake!!!!

Anyway, got to dash, the ironing is calling and it is easier to do this at night when Mr Sunshine has taken his hat off and gone to bed!

Have a great week.

Fun With Childrens Cards!

Hello Crafters

Yes I have been having the greatest time playing with colouring and tiny die cutting! I truly have been completely taken by Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant stamping and die cutting, and it is just so much FUN! Problem is I want them all and believe me there are a load to choose from.

Above is a set of stamps with matching dies called Little Bundle from Lawn Fawn, and the whole time I was playing with them, they just made me smile 🙂 The beauty of these are that you can not only do so much with them, but you don’t need a large die cutter either. I have a Bosskut, and it’s so quick and easy to use. You have all your parts cut out in no time. The colouring takes longer, but that’s fun because you are only held back by your imagination.

Here’s another version for a little boy:

I like this one more, as I made a sky background with this, and used parchment for clouds, so it looks a lot fuller and more picturesque. On both of these cards I have used Spectrum Noir Alcohol Pens and a clear Glitter pen, but you can’t see the sparkle in the pictures (try as I might to capture it). I also love the dies that make the scene, i.e. puffy clouds die, Grass die, etc and there are a few different brands to choose from My Favourite Things, Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant to name a few, but they all do the same thing, you just have to have a look round and see what suits you.

Next I had a couple of birthdays for children coming up, so yet another excuse to play! Yesterday I made these two cards, and the Fairy Freinds card is a shaker card:

I must admit, the colouring took a while, but it was so worth it! My other half bought these for my birthday present and I have only just got the time to have a play, but I can assure you it won’t be the last! The inside of the card I have turned into a money slot with the aid of My Favourite Things Dienamics Card Grooves, originally to help hold gift cards, but it makes the perfect slot for money. The Gifting Fun stamps have useful sayings, and will really come in handy for Christmas too!

Here the Tiny Heroes are in action with their friends. All these scenes I have used Distress Inks to make the background colours. Here the greeting  stamp used was Paper Smooches Slang Gang.

All these dies or majority of them, come from UK – Seven Hills Crafts Store. They only sell American dies, but their service is next to none, and deliver very quickly. They seem to take note if you ask them to let you know when a die is back in stock, and order it in, so I highly recommend them.

I hope you enjoy all these little people, appearing all over your screens. If you like colouring, my guess is you will love these.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
