Christmas is coming!

Hello Crafters

Kim Style's Cards

I am amazed that the last few weeks passed so quickly, and I think I jinxed myself when I said in my last post ‘everything should settle down now’ – famous last words eh? Well as usual life has been so busy, and I have been creating, and have completed a Wedding Album, which can you believe I took no photos of! It was mighty fun to do something a little different and I was pleased with the outcome.

Now before you know it we are in September and that means ‘get your skates on’ for the Christmas cards, so that’s what I have been doing. Nothing special but the creative juices seem out of action again so decided to tinker with ideas and browse some pinterest pictures that people share. Boy does it help sometimes, and gives great inspiration. I have been filtering through my magazines and thought it’s about time I used some of the free papers, so here’s what I have made.

I seriously have got so many papers that I need to have a clean up but, just like any true crafterKim Style's Cards, you never want to waste a thing! So I aKim Style's Cardsm trying to use the Magazine papers, my favourite being Making Cards Magazine and I subscribe to this as I feel that the papers are really good quality and the toppers are vibrant and large enough to make a good centre piece.

These were just quick put togethers but they feel festive and seasonal, and I liked the colours.

I also got to use some of the ribbons I have accumulated too. My sister-in-law saves pieces of ribbon and they are perfect for using in projects like these.

Next I had a few ideas buzzing round after tinkering, as you do, so thought it a good time to put someKim Style's Cards of these into action and this is Kim Style's Cardswhat resulted. I love distress inks and love to play with different results and this  was one of those. Love the SB Snowflake, makes a lovely focal point. The reindeer card came about because of the card. I bought this at a craft fair last year, and I treated myself to the CE Deer Family die and they matched perfectly. I think Kim Style's Cardsanother must for your stash is the Martha Stewart Twig Punch. I had to get mine from BIC Warehouse in America to get a reasonable price! So many things you can do with it, see here.

I also like frames on a card and saw an idea in pinterest that I wanted to test, and the result was this, simply using a circle die to create a bauble and decorate at will. Kim Style's Cards

As I started playing with the dies, this took me away from using the card and paper stock, and then I wanted to experiment with dies, so easy to be distracted in here!

I must admit, I got a little fed up with seeing all the CE Sue Wilson makes around, especially from designers I follow, as I feel really talented people that produced fantastic ideas, then got commandeered, now all seem to be doing the same thing! Maybe it’s just me, and I understand they want to make a living, but I followed them for their own unique style, and feel that has been lost. Am I the only one who thinks like this?

Anyway, last but not least, another make that I did similarly last year, but love the effect with the black card stock.

Any way just a few things I have been doing. I will be changing things around a bit on my blog shortly, so it may look a little different next time you pop by, and I hope you will.

Happy Crafting
