You

Hello Crafters

How are you all? I do hope that you were kept safe in the storm, and that awful yellow sky that developed, apparently it was a sand storm from the Sahara Desert caught up in the hurricane! All I know is that it left an awful lot of dust all over everything, and Mr Kim had just cleaned the car too!

Just a quick pop in to share a card I made a little while ago and mysteriously took an awful long time to reach it’s destination – Gibraltar. Normally 5 to 7 days, but took 3 weeks! Think it had a little holiday all of it’s own!! At least it did make it’s destination and not go off to that big ol’ post box in the sky.

This was a card for a colleague, and a chance to test out the new embossing folder, and I must say, it really did turn out nice. I used the Encore Metallic Pink Ink and layered it on and then ran it though the machine, and it came out with this beautiful lace effect.

Well must get on, nearly time for bed and little lad could do with a little playtime.

Have a lovely week.

Twist ‘n’ Pop Birthday

Hello Crafters

Hope you are all having a great week producing beautiful moments in time!

This week I decided to have a go at this twist ‘n’ pop craze that every one seemed to be doing, a little behind I know but none the less I got there! First I started by having a look at images and YouTube and then I decided I wanted something different for the grandchildren so said to myself ‘ Let’s have a go!’

I was so pleased as I measured and made it all, and it worked first time.

Well I hope you have a wonderful week and look forward to seeing your creations!

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Hello Crafters

Well where do I start! Firstly let me say hello to my new followers, it never ceases to amaze me that you want to share my craft, and that so keeps me going! So a big hello and welcome, and normally I will blog weekly, just things have been a tad fast and furious and hectic.

To my loyal followers who may have thought that I have fallen of the planet (although sometimes I would like to step off for a few hours and stop spinning!), I am so grateful that you still pop in from time to time, and you are all never far from my thoughts, and mean an awful lot when the world gets too demanding, so thank you, and it is very true, that absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder…..

Now, have I been crafting?…….Oh yes I have!

What have I got for you?……so much I have forgotten what I haven’t shared!

So I will start with something that posed a challenge, and all because the lady loved yellow and blue!!!!

My previous post about an anniversary card I made for a lovely lady at my Slimming World group, asked me if I would make a wedding anniversary card for her daughter for her husbands first anniversary (so sweet the 1st one!), and I was more than willing to do that. So I gathered a little info and details and all these ideas were whizzing around in my head, when she said ” Could you make it with Yellow and Blue as it was my daughters wedding colours”……”Of course I said.” Now at that point someone just came along when I wasn’t looking and switched the ideas light off, I don’t know where it went or who did it, which little monkey came along and stole my thoughts! ONE WHOLE WEEK LATER, I was still walking around with a blank black hole, where there was once signs of life! Scared the hell out of me I can tell you, I was giving myself all sort of tellings off (technically known as kicking my own butt!) until one afternoon, I simply shouted (to myself in my head not out loud or I would have been arrested) STOP! STOP! STOP! Well low and behold I did see the light 🙂

I was trying so card thinking about Yellow & Blue I couldn’t get past it to design the card, so with a really good kicked butt bruised with yellow and blue it is, I just designed in about half an hour 8 cards (yes you did read right) without the colour in my head, and it just flowed! Once I got home, I drew up all these ideas in draught and then chose one, and finally THEN I added the colour!!!

Isn’t it amazing how something so tiny can get in the way, so my wonderful crafty folks, remember if the mind goes a wandering, think black and white 🙂

Here is the Wedding Anniversary card, and chuffed doesn’t describe how I felt when it was finished I can tell you!

ITEMS USED:

Well there you have it my crafty friends, I wish you all a wonderful week filled with magical ideas.

Oh and I just want to let you know I managed to get my 3 Stone Slimming World Award whilst I was absent…..just thought I’d share.

Husband Anniversary Card

Hello Crafters

How has your week been? Hopefully a lot better than mine 😦

You see a very dear old friend of mine called Mrs Pfaff (My Sewing Machine) has been poorly for a little while, coughing, spluttering, hiccuping and generally making me do everything more often than needed to and I kept putting off taking her to that big ol’ sewing machine surgery but it appears that Mr Kim had been monitoring the skirmish, and decided that he was calling time on my weekly battle to drag this poor ol’ dear, kicking and screaming any further, (and before I had no hair left to pull out!) to the magician who I was hoping would be kind and tell me he could give her oil to joint resuscitation, but my fears were realised when he said those immortal words – you know the ones often repeated today – ‘I’m sorry to say, we can no longer get the parts!’

“Whattttt? But she is merely 42 years old! This cannot be true” Swooning, I almost blanche white.

The not so much of a magician said ‘I think she has done you proud but I cannot do anything for her……but we have the equivalent model here?” A wry smile on his face.

Well, I felt like it was a conspiracy to say the least, first the mixer now the sewing machine, I dread to think what next, seriously!!!! So we went away and mulled it over, he gave me the trade in price and it already had money off, and I checked the internet and it wasn’t any cheaper, so we decided we would bow to the demand.

We trundled home and I must admit a little excited after my initial shock eager to test my machine. Mr Kim disappeared down the allotment, happy that I was content with my new toy, and after 3 hours I had produced my lovely little dog coat, with a self made pattern, and all that was left was just to add the velcro, so of we go a quiet, gentle hum of the machine when snap went the cotton! Darn it, pulled out the bobbin, check it, re-thread, pull out the cotton, check it, re-thread, and off we go again, tickety, tickety, tick, snap! Darn not again, so we do it all again! Tickety, tickety, tick, thump! Mr Kim is taking it back to the shop on Monday as it just won’t move an inch! Is it me or does anyone else have this sort of luck! However, when it was working it was a joy, and I finished little lads coat by hand, and quite proud of myself until that happened!

He has been wearing this yesterday and today, and pleased to report that it has passed the pull test, and he looks mighty fine too!

Anyway, I just wanted to share a card I made the other day for a friend who wanted to wish her hubby a Happy Anniversary after 33 years, what an achievement!

Items Used:

I took loads of photos trying to capture the background card here as it was so beautiful, but still don’t think I managed it. It has like a beautiful rainbow glittered effect. Still he loved the card and that’s the main thing.

Have a great week everybody, dreading tomorrow, just hope my new little lady recovers quickly (or Mr Magician may ban me from sewing 😜)!

Hugs

Cotton Anniversary

Hello Crafters

What a lovely drop of sunshine we have had today, makes you feel all shiny and new doesn’t it, and I hope your week has been a good one.

It’s been a busy week with house viewings but no luck yet, so Saturday was our first ‘free’ day in ages so I had a dilemma, do I craft cards or make that skirt! Well the skirt won and I’m super pleased it did. I have been itching to make this for a while and although a simple skirt it looks real smart.

This is the same skirt and look at the colour difference! The bottom right is the truest colour – Sage Green and it is a linen material and I finished it yesterday and as you can see, it needs pressing, so today it will be pressed ready for work tomorrow.

On Friday it was my son’s 2nd wedding anniversary (where did that time go, remember all the work for the wedding invitations!) and this means it’s a cotton anniversary, and I felt like the card needed to feel new and modern, so I just literally went wherever the creation took me. To be honest I felt a little out of my comfort zone, but I was thinking of the recipients of the card and what a young newly married couple would probably like, here it is see what you think.

These were all the pictures I took, so sorry there isn’t many. Must have got distracted during the photo session! Instead of the usual white or silver or red hearts, I went for the more pastel shades, and I think it worked.

Items Used:

  1. Spellbinders – Lace Hearts
  2. Justrite Stamps – Bokeh Time, Colorful Brush Strokes
  3. Visible Image – Speckle Background, Ink Splats, These Are The Moments
  4. Phil Martin – Chic Floral Anniversary Verses
  5. Stickles – Crystal

Well it’s Sunday evening and the suns going down which means only one thing in my household – it’s time to iron!

Hope you have a wonderfully creative week, and I’d like to Welcome my new followers too. Thank you for joining me and I will pop in to see what your up too.

Hugs

Long Time No See…

Hello Crafters

Surprise! I am finally here, and no, I wasn’t abducted by aliens, although I swear I was so busy I almost caught my self coming backwards!

We have been busy decorating and repairing and getting everything ready to sell, and finally, the pictures have been taken, and hopefully (fingers crossed), we shall be onwards and upwards to sell our property.  We have found one too, whilst we were “down south” last week, so just hoping that we can sell this before the other one goes.

Now have I been crafting? Well I have, just not had a minute to share. Have been popping into your blogs from time to time too, just no time to say hello, and do you know, I can’t even remember what I have shared and what not! This ol’ girl is getting forgetful in her old age 🙂 However, this I can share with you as my friend in Canada has now received it.

I wanted to send something floral but not bulky, so I decided on a pop up box, and this was made using Lawn Fawns latest.

Items Used:

It’s a shame the pictures dont do it justice, as the card I used was glittered, like rainbow coloured, but I just couldn’t capture it, probably as the flowers were too small, but it did look very striking when it was finished, and of course fitted in a standard A5 envelope all lovely and flat to post.

Well that’s it for now, and will try to be back again but we now have the happy task of showing people around and trying to pack up what we can live without, so still busy, and like I keep saying, work gets in the way…….

Have a lovely week, see you soon

Hugs

PS Thank you for still visiting me, and a warm welcome to my new followers, it’s great to have you visit and look forward to more 🙂

Floral Birthday

Hello Crafters

Well didn’t it turn out nice this weekend. I was at a charity event yesterday held once a year, and it was formed by my nephew’s best friend and my brother and his wife when they lost Aaron in Afghanistan in 2009. It’s called the Aaron Lewis Foundation and each year they hold their major event to raise funds for various charities supported. This year they presented a young disabled lad with his own sports wheel chair, and it didn’t take him but 5 minutes before he was racing around all over the place with a massive smile on his face. Wonderful to see! My job was to take the orders on the burger stall and this year it was busier than ever, so busy I couldn’t even get to take a bite out of my lunch! Started around 10.30 and finished about 9ish but although exhausting it is rewarding knowing how much it all helps, and the atmosphere this year was really upbeat, with even more teams joining for the annual rugby matches, amazing effort by everyone, and it was a brilliant day!

One of the ladies, Aaron’s cousin’s wife, had her birthday on this day too, so today I have the card to share with you, I also made a little gift box but didn’t take any photos.

Items Used:

  • Card Base 13 x 10 1/2 mm, Box Base – 13 1/2 x 11
  • Creative Expressions – Mauritus
  • Spellbinders – Labels 47Sentiments One
  • Unknown Brand – Tiny Bows
  • Distress Ink – Tattered Rose

The Mauritius die is so versatile and beautiful as you can see that you can use it to create the decorative topper or just as a decorative insert. Although this is a UK A6 die, it is so  pretty and really eye catching.

Thank you for popping by, and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Hugs
